Thug shattered ex-lover's jaw with kick in face

A man kicked his ex-girlfriend so hard in the face that he shattered her jaw in two places.

David Kay, 49, was jailed for 16 months after admitting the ‘nasty’ attack.

The couple were together for five years but their relationship descended into violence, Bolton Crown Court heard.

Kay had attacked the victim several times before but she only reported him to police after her final ordeal, which happened as she tried to start a new life away from him, it was said. Kay, of Deal Street, Great Lever, Bolton, ‘exploded’ into violence after turning up at the woman’s Bolton home on April 2 this year.

They had both been drinking and Kay accused her of seeing another man.

She was sitting on the floor when he kicked her in the face, breaking her jaw in two places.

The victim, 38, was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital by ambulance and transferred to a specialist unit in Blackburn where surgeons had to insert a metal plate to repair her jaw.

She sought refuge at a women’s shelter and eventually told of her horrific treatment.

In a victim impact statement read out in court, she said her ex-boyfriend had left her ‘terrified’.

She added: “Nobody has the right to hurt me, especially in front of my kids.”

Henry Pepper, prosecuting, said the victim had suffered ‘terrible’ injuries.

Elizabeth Dudley-Jones, defending, said her client was remorseful and regretted his actions.

She said: “He accepts that his behaviour was completely unacceptable.”

Kay pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and was jailed. He was also given a two-year restraining order.

Speaking after the case, Det Con Stuart Round, of Bolton CID, said: “The victim suffered historical violence at the hands of Kay and was too afraid to report it, but she was trying to start a new life away from him.”

And yet another woman beating pathetic excuse of a "man". And why is there no comments about this violence against a human being but there are 24 comments about a thug who injured his dog after shooting it with an air rifle. Shows where the priorities are in this country doesn't it?

Another woman beating toughguy,I dont think 16 months is any way near enough punishment for kicking a defenceless woman in the face breaking her jaw in two places, Her poor kids would have been terrified.

Wife beating, girlfriend beating, woman beating should be subject to a minimum 5 years at Her Majesty's pleasure. If a second offence ever happened then it should be 10 years and if a third offence ever occured then a good old length or rope should sort it.

I can understand why the victim didn't report the first offences; so many women don't, either through fear or believing the apologies & "I won't do it again" comments. Unfortunately far too many women end up dead at the hands of the person who is supposed to love them the most. Once a man beats his wife/partner & gets away with it, he know he can keep doing it.
Anyone suffering domestic violence (male or female) should report it immediately & seek help - it's available.
I'll bet Kay didn't show remorse until he entered court. 16 months is far too short.

The poor dog in question was defenceless and at the mercy of the thug, the 38 year old woman had a choice to leave such a pathetic scumbag who surely must have displayed signs of his violence before the incident.

too many stories like this one...yawn, scumbag...yawn, waste of space, have him gassed, sick of saying it.
Maybe if we still had the gallows, 'men' may be deterred from behaving in this way towards women...or anybody for that matter!
