Profits up at Styles & Wood

RETAIL property firm Styles & Wood, which boasts high street giants such as Barclays Bank and Debenhams among its customers, has announced a bumper set of results.

In 2003, the Altrincham- based firm saw sales grow by almost 10 per cent to £133m, while profits rose by 15 per cent to £4.1m, representing 10 consecutive years of growth at the company.

Styles & Wood said it continued to serve most of the UK major retail players, including Argos, Asda and Marks & Spencer as well as being heavily involved in the national roll-out of JobCentre Plus branches on behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions.

Last year also saw the launch of a new division at the group, Styles & Wood StoreCare, which deals with the outsourcing of a range of after-sales services.

Fee income from this new division and its design arm, Styles & Wood Store- Planning accounted for around 20 per cent of the company's overall profit and early indications for 2004 are positive, with a record order book in hand.

Chief executive Neil Davies said: "It's been a good year. We've improved our services and delivered on our promises. More and more retailers are turning to us because we are a single source of supply for property services. Success in this business is all about keeping the customer satisfied and this result shows that we're doing just that."
