£20,000 for winning enterprise formula

BRIGHT sparks with winning business ideas which could help the community in East Manchester have the chance to win &#163;20,000 to get them off to a flying start. <BR><BR>A novel competition, running this summer, is looking to find the best idea for a community-based enterprise to help boost the area which is being re-born thanks to the Commonwealth Games. <BR><BR>Social City Enterprise (SCE), a development agency for East Manchester has &#163;750,000 worth of funding to spend by the end of 2004 on business regeneration in the area. <BR><BR>Its first big venture is the launch of the contest, Business Icons, where it is offering up to &#163;20,000 in start-up capital. <BR><BR>Ideas are more likely to make it to the final selection, if they show the company will employ five or more people and aims to turnover &#163;100,000 in its first year. <BR><BR>But the business must be about more than just making money.
