Cool reply by planners
BUSINESS leaders have given a cool response to government attempts to soothe business fears about new charges on developers.
Under the new plans for planning obligation, applicants would have a choice of paying a charge set by local authorities, or using the existing system of case-by-case negotiation.
John Cridland, CBI Deputy Director- General, has made clear that business still has major concerns about the compromise currently on the table.
Salmon sale
NORTH west-based Hargreaves Developments has sold the first of its units at Salmon Fields Business Village in Royton, Oldham. Local energy consultancy company Utility Masters has bought a 1,600-sq ft unit off-plan and intends to move into the development early in January 2004.
Eccles let
ACTING on behalf of Marley Flooring, Lambert Smith Hampton has assigned the lease of a 2,900-sq m industrial unit at the Masmyth business centre, Green Lane, Eccles, to Walkwell Flooring. The rent is £120,000 a year.
Denton sales
MARSHALL Construction has sold two office buildings at Cranberry Park, Denton, to TIC Group. Each building totals 570 sq m and has been sold for close to £890,000, say sales agents at Lambert Smith Hampton.
