Charity boost from freepost campaign

Karen Sibson, Manchester Chamber

CHRISTMAS has come early for community groups and charities in the Sale area thanks to the generosity of a marketing company.

AMC Marketing Services is offering local community groups the chance to use hundreds of freepost envelopes to help with fundraising and other activities.

AMC's Mark Carlton says charitable and locally supported organisations in Trafford, Flixton and Sale have already benefited from using the freepost envelopes but there are still some up for grabs.

"We've dubbed it our freepost giveaway scheme," explained Mark Carlton, "and so far a diverse group of organisations have taken advantage of it ranging from a junior lacrosse club and neighbourhood playgroup to a special school and childbirth support group.

"They've used them for fundraising and general administrative purposes, saving themselves postage costs in the process."

The freepost envelopes were left over from a client's campaign earlier in the year and AMC decided to put them to good use rather than throw them away.

Mark Carlton added: "Many small community organisations have to beg, steal or borrow the 19p for postage but now they can use these freepost envelopes and we'll pick up the mailing costs."

Opportunity

AMC Marketing is also helping to sort the envelopes and forward them to the organisations concerned.

Annmarie Carlton, of AMC, added: "Direct mail and postal communications play a big part in our services so we saw it as the perfect opportunity to make some of those resources available to the local community.

"The response has been amazing and we are delighted to help so many hardworking and genuinely worthy causes."

One group which has received a fundraising boost thanks to AMC's scheme is the Bollin Valley Partnership which helps raise awareness of the countryside and its importance to nearby city dwellers.

The valley, which covers parts of Cheshire and South Manchester, provides a free leisure resource for thousands of people and promotes community health through activities such as the Walking for Health initiative.

The Partnership's Phil Robinson said: "It's very pleasing to see a commercial business like AMC acting in support of an environmental organisation like ours.

"We depend on corporate sponsorship for a good part of our income and this will help us in sending mail shots to companies as well as publicising special events."
