A north west telecoms company set up in a front room two years ago is now supplying ring tones and logos for mobile phones in 200 countries around the world.

With 20 employees and offices in Rawtenstall and Leeds, Lammtara has also landed contracts with clients as diverse as Cadburys Schweppes and the Department of Education and Skills.

The company specialises in providing access to applications and databases via WAP, GPRS and SMS, the web and voice service provision.

Pupils in the DES Connexions scheme pilot areas across the country, including the north west, are carrying attendance smart cards developed by the company to act as an electronic register.

The company's contract for Cadburys involved setting up a dedicated mail system for committed fans of the chocolate.

Lammtara also provided the means for Orange plc to deliver the latest track and team information for fans around the circuits at the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Founder Barry Sharples said: ''Our business is based on providing what the business customer wants from his or her communications systems. The potential is limitless as businesses across the world look for more efficient, faster and cost saving communications with their staff, suppliers and customers.''
