A WEBSITE aimed at channelling more business into Manchester is to go online this week.
Set up by Manchester Investment and Development Agency Service, MIDAS, manchestercalling.com will be an electronic guide to assist companies worldwide to make an informed decision when setting up, relocating or expanding into the area.
From September 1, the website will include detailed information on population and workforce, transport and communications, education, sites and premises and lifestyle.
Manchestercalling.com will also contain MIDAS' key business sectors which includes customer contact centres, information and communication technology, air transport and biotechnology.
These will become micro-sites each with their own individual identity and domain names.
Businesses interested in moving to Manchester will be able to access all the news and features specific to their needs and link to other significant websites.
Director of Marketing at MIDAS, Richard Jones said: ''By re-focusing the MIDAS website, companies interested in relocating to Manchester will have an informative point of access containing details on all their specific requirements.
''Manchestercalling.com will provide a wealth of information to assist the relocation process.''
Working alongside Marketing Manchester and Manchester City Council, MIDAS is also involved in two other websites devoted to images of the city manchesterimages.com and manchestershowreel.co.uk.
In 2000/01, MIDAS, which covers Manchester, Salford, Tameside and Trafford, advised companies on projects with a total investment value of £186m and created 3,351 jobs.
