Luxury P1 car club motors into north

LUXURY car fans are being targeted by a company formed by former motor racing Formula One World Champion Damon Hill.

Mr Hill's business, P1, a prestige performance car club, is expanding north on the back of a successful launch in Surrey five years ago.

Members pay an annual fee of either '11,750 or '13,750 and then will have the chance to drive a fleet of cars worth '1m, including a Ford GT, Ferrari F430, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 997 Turbo. P1 offers members the chance to drive the world's finest and fastest cars without the drawbacks of ownerships such as depreciation and maintenance.

The original club now has 250 members and its fleet is now worth '4m.

The company is looking at two sites in the north west for its regional base. They are in Alderley Edge and Holmes Chapel. P1 is inviting applications for 40 founder members to join. Once they are on board it will invest the money in the new cars.

If all goes to plan the north-west operation will be on the road in September.

P1 marketing manager Nick Gartrell said: "We have had a number of inquiries from people in the north of the country, but for logistical reasons it has not made sense for them to join. Now they can, and we hope P1 North is as successful as the original club."

Members can expect to enjoy between 50-70 days' driving a year, depending on what car they chose, for how long and whether it is weekend or week-day use.
