Making a case for manufacturing

MANUFACTURING is still perceived as an industry under threat from low-cost economies in far-flung corners of the world. Is it stuck in monotonous low-paid jobs, bloated by bureaucracy and labour disputes, dirty, dangerous and uncreative?

Not according to the Manufacturing Institute, which has published a 21-page rebuttal to the sector's critics. SARAH WALTERS continues her investigation into manufacturing by talking to people who work there.
