An eight-strong team of students studying for degrees in engineering and design at the University of Bolton, is looking for sponsors to help build the car of their dreams.
They are taking part in Formula Student an international challenge to test the skills of students from around the world by designing and building a prototype small racing car.
The lure for business is to see the company logo on the Formula car and the students hope it will pull in the '10,000 they need over two years for the project.
Last year the contest, co-ordinated by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers attracted more than 60 teams from universities in more than a dozen countries.
For this summer, the students will enter the design stage of the competition, and be ready for the racing section next year.
The Bolton students have created a portfolio of sponsorship packages, from a starter '250 up to '2,500, but will be very happy if one business was tempted to become sole sponsor. One big supermarket chain is already considering the idea.
"This is a project the students can really cut their teeth on and test out their skills," said staff facilitator Mike Hall. Tweet
