DVDs for children's health

CENTRE Screen Productions has completed three films as part of a Government initiative entitled Change for Children - Every Child Matters.

Centre Screen's work is aimed at improving the delivery of services for children within health, social care and education.

Following the success of a first set of films in 2004, the Castlefield-based team was asked to make three more films to create a national DVD resource.

The DVD is aimed at practitioners in local authorities, schools and other children's service providers as well as NHS staff.

Steve Hewitt, associate director with Centre Screen, said: "The films deal largely with real-life cases showing some of the experiences of children and young adults in our medical system.

"An accident and emergency department, for example, can be an extremely intimidating environment for a child. Video is the perfect medium to demonstrate the emotional impact of this type of experience and help NHS staff better understand the problems children can face in the system."
