Rob Cotton, chief executive of Manchester-based IT security business NCC Group, has been crowned personality of the year at the annual techMARK awards for all UK technology companies listed on the Stock Exchange.

Mr Cotton said he considered the award to reflect the achievements of the entire group and its staff.

The judging panel was made up of leading analysts and sector specialists. Mr Cotton beat senior figures from Autonomy Corporation, SDL and Imagination Technologies Group for the title.

Mr Cotton said: “It's a proud moment for us all, particularly given the quality of other companies short-listed.”
