Live: Alastair Campbell hosts Manchester Evening News Business of the Year Awards 2011

Alastair Campbell will be presenting the awards at tonight's ceremony

Anticipation is building amongst Greater Manchester’s business community in advance of tonight's Manchester Evening News Business of the Year Awards.

This is the 18th year of the competition, which seeks to reward excellence in companies across all sizes and sectors.

The awards will see 17 firms compete in five categories for businesses with turnover under £10m, £10m - £25m turnover, £25m - £50m turnover, turnover over £50m and the young business of the year.

Hosted by Tony Blair's former director of communications and strategy Alastair Campbell, the awards are being held at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club's Old Trafford ground.

Alister Campbell presenting business awards, you must be joking. That man should have been on trial for trerason assisting us into an illegal war and costing 100,000's lives 9of servicemen and civilians. Now I must believe the the MEN is actually a left wing paper, which I must stop buying.

Couldn't agree more with the other 2 posts. AC penned the 45 minutes lie. He deliberately misled us and parliament. For him to still be on this gravytrain circuit is revolting.
