Wright's '10m schools deal
LANCASHIRE firm Eric Wright Construction, has secured two new education contracts in Greater Manchester worth almost '10m. Work starts this month on a new inclusive primary school with facilities for special needs children at Hindley, Wigan. A new teaching and science facility in Harpurhey, Manchester for Manchester College of Arts & Technology (MANCAT), also commences this month.
Burnley sale
AN eight-acre industrial site on Liverpool Road, Burnley, has been sold for '1.3m. Phil Manson of surveyors Stevens Scanlan acted for the vendor, a private investor based in Manchester. The site was purchased by Barnfield Construction, represented by Dunlop Heywood Lorenz. Stevens Scanlan acted as joint agents in the deal with Kaye Mackenzie of Levenshulme.
Downtex deal
THE former Downtex site on Mary Street, Manchester, has been sold for '675,000 by corporate recovery agent and auctioneers, Robson Kay & Co, who achieved a price equating to over '1.6m per acre. The 0.41-acre site was sold on behalf of Downtex's joint administrators.
Salford buy
ACTING on behalf of Priority Sites, a joint partnership between the RBS and English Partnerships, DTZ Debenham Tie Leung has sold Unit 1, Agecroft Court, Salford. The 20,000-sq ft warehouse was acquired by shipping services firm Marco Services for '1m.
WHS sale
SHEPHERDS Friendly Society, advised by ep2, has acquired the WH Smith shop at High Street, Bromsgrove, for '913,000 deal, a net initial yield of 5.8 per cent. Mansfield Elstob Main acted for the vendor.
Shirley joins
LIVERPOOL-based Downing Developments has appointed a new financial accountant. Shirley Phillips, as it prepares a multi-million investment programme across the north.
