The Dean of Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School is leaving to join Salford University in a senior role.
Prof Huw Morris is to become Salford's pro-vice-chancellor (academic). He will lead the university's learning and teaching strategy, including the design of courses and use of technology. He will take up his new post in July.
Prof Morris said of his new role: "It is an ambitious university with a strong tradition of courses linked to employment and a remarkable record of innovation in delivering teaching to students from a wide variety of backgrounds. I hope to build on the university's past successes."
He has been Dean of MMU's Business School since 2005, and is the university's pro-vice-chancelllor for enterprise with a special responsibility for e-learning. He was recently appointed chairman of the Association of Business Schools.
Prof Martin Hall, Salford's Vice-Chancellor, said: "Huw's appointment is an exciting opportunity for Salford, because of his outstanding success in improving teaching and learning in a number of universities, particularly his expertise in implementing innovative e-learning technologies. He is an outstanding researcher and academic leader."
