New housing shortage

AN estimated 25,000 new homes a year - 10 per cent of the UK requirement - need to be built to service the booming north west housing market, according to the RICS in the region.

But just 18,646 new houses were built here in 2002-03, compared with 18,951 in 1990/91.


Karl joins

CHARTERED surveyors Eddisons has strengthened its specialist rating department in anticipation of extra work generated by the regular commercial property revaluation, due soon. Karl Newton will be based in the Manchester office as its first full-time rating specialist in the city. He previously worked for Manchester-based Edward Symmons & Partners and G L Hearn.


For Frodsham

THE North West Development Agency has announced funding of '1.6m for a unique programme to help regenerate Frodsham, through the `Frodsham Forward' initiative. The five-year programme, to be developed by Vale Royal borough council, will create or safeguard over 90 new jobs and provide business advice and training support for up to 75 businesses.
