Manchester-based Lap Belt Cinch Europe's seatbelts - named the CG-Lock - are used and endorsed by professional racing car drivers and stuntmen.
The company is on course to double turnover to £250,000 in its second year following orders from Pinewood Studios and a European distributor. The business was founded by former AstraZeneca executive Dr Graham Cox, who owns the exclusive EU distribution rights for the CG-Lock, which helps secure drivers more firmly in seats.
Among those who have used them are Ben Collins, the stuntman who doubled for Daniel Craig in the James Bond blockbuster Quantum of Solace and the man rumoured to play The Stig in BBC's Top Gear. Autoadapt, the EU's biggest distributor of mobility adaptation equipment, has also signed an agreement to distribute the CG-Lock.
The business, which is working with advisers from the Manchester office of law firm Brabners Chaffe Street, is now aiming to get the device installed in all new cars. Dr Cox said: "This is a hugely exciting time for us and we're keen to capitalise on demand from a number of new markets."
