THE assistant director for the CBI North West steps down today to take up a top regional post with the Bank of England.

Simon Caunt, 37, will on Monday succeed Neil Ashbridge as Deputy Agent for the north west. Mr Ashbridge is moving to be Agent for Wales.

Mr Caunt said: "My new role will be to act as the eyes and ears of the Monetary Policy Committee in the north west."
