A CHESHIRE-based manufacturer of children's art products today announced a distribution agreement with leading brand Berol which bosses said would provide a `significant boost' to the company's £2.7m turnover.

Creative Art Products, of Holmes Chapel, will distribute Berol materials such as crayons, felt tips and markers. It will also make and distribute Berol's range of paints.

A £50,000 package to cover the initial costs has been come from NatWest. Creative, which has 38 staff, will expand its range of products.

The company currently supplies crayons, chalks, modelling materials, paints and glues.

Founded in the 1920s, the business originally made desks and blackboards. It diversified into arts and crafts in the 1960s and in 1991 bought Scolaquip.

Managing director John Reynard said: "Berol has an excellent reputation in the market, and we are very pleased to have reached agreement to manufacture and distribute a selection of their products. We are confident this partnership will be beneficial to both companies."

NatWest's Julia Thistlewaite said: "The distribution agreement with Berol represents a good development opportunity for Creative Art Products, and we are happy to provide them with the financial support to help implement the contract."
