SHARES climbed in Renovo Group after the Manchester-based biotechnology business announced positive results from a 12-month analysis of trials for its scar-reduction drug Juvista in varicose vein surgery.

Renovo, which said in April it was in talks over an offer, said the trials were carried out on 156 patients in four countries.

A further phase of trials has begun on 350 patients across 50 clinical centres. Shares in the company, led by chief executive Prof Mark Ferguson, gained 4.55 per cent, or 1.25p, to 29.25p after the announcement. Tweet
