BetFred signs deal to show Turf TV

BOOKMAKER BetFred has signed a deal to show Turf TV across its betting shops.

Turf TV is a partnership between 31 of Britain's 59 racecourses and Alphameric, a Guildford-based technology company which has an office in Reddish, in Stockport. The partnership includes Ascot, Aintree, Cheltenham and Haydock Park, near St Helens.

The deal will run for five years and will provide customers in BetFred's shops with access to more racing.

BetFred's founder Fred Done said: "I'm delighted that a deal has been done and that my customers now have access to even more racing in the shops."

Amalgamated Racing, which was founded in December 2006, found itself in a legal wrangle with bookmakers over the supply of television pictures from racecourses to betting shops.

A statement released to the stock market said that BetFred and Turf TV had also agreed to settle court proceedings between them.

Alphameric's shares rose by seven per cent - or 1.5p - to 22.75p.
