Wiganer David Fairhurst, McDonald's chief people officer who has led a campaign by the fast-food chain to dispel the myths of 'McJob', a term associated with low-paid, dead-end employment, will join the human resources management team at MMU's Business School.
He will deliver guest lectures, advise on the business school's HR curriculum and mentor staff and alumni.
Last year, he received an honorary doctorate in business administration from the business school.
Sue Shaw, of MMU Business School, said: "David is one of the sharpest business brains of his generation."
Mr Fairhurst joined McDonald's in 2005 after stints at Heinz, SmithKline Beecham and Tesco. He has gained an industry reputation for developing young talent using innovation and technology.
