LAWYERS in Manchester played key roles as soccer's transfer window drew to a frenzied close.

Chris Farnell, of IPS Law, advised on 21 player moves worth a total of £92m during the summer window, including Everton's club record £15m signing of Marouane Fellaini from Standard Liege just a minute before the clock struck midnight.

Chris was also involved in David Bentley's switch from Blackburn Rovers to Tottenham Hotspur, and Shaun Wright-Phillips' (above) return to Manchester City from Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Brabners Chaffe Street's Maurice Watkins, Edward Canty, Matthew Bennett, Carol Couse, Stuart Baird and Matt Barnes advised on deals totalling more than £80m, including Manchester United's signing of Spurs star Dimitar Berbatov and defender Mikael Silvestre's move from Old Trafford to Arsenal. The team also completed seven deals for Liverpool, including the deadline day signing of Espanyol winger Albert Riera, and acted on transfers for Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Rangers and Blackpool.

HENNA Riaz (below), a Manchester-based solicitor in Hill Dickinson's media team, advised Liverpool quartet Mike Bradley, Tony Taylor, David Hyland and Jules Burgess-Kennedy, who wrote and recorded Angel Child in memory of Rhys Jones, the youngster who was shot dead last year. All proceeds will go towards a community centre in memory of Rhys.
