SALE-based virtual reality firm Virtalis has appointed a new sales team leader as it prepares to launch its 3-D landscape visualising software, GeoVisionary.

Andrew O'Keeffe is a visualisation specialist and previously worked in European sales management at CAE and Thales.

The GeoVisionary software has been developed jointly with the British Geological Survey, and allows users to view large scale 3-D maps from any altitude and from any perspective.

"I'm not easily impressed, but I certainly was by Virtalis technology," said Andrew.

"I have been in visualisation all my working life and have increasingly found that as datasets have become ever more detailed they have become impossible to render, owing to memory constraints. GeoVisionary effortlessly overcomes this problem, allowing people to see the full impact of their data for the first time."

Virtalis is set to launch GeoVisionary in the autumn and will be targeting a number of different sectors including military, local and regional government, geologists, civil engineers, oil, gas, mining and power and network providers.
