MUM Juliette Hassell has quit her job as a company secretary to open a children's activity warehouse in Greater Manchester.

Juliette, 38, who is married with a three-year-old son, worked at an engineering firm in Daresbury, Cheshire, but dreamed of running her own business.

After taking toddler Ewan to a play centre in her native Scotland, she decided to take the plunge with her own version.

Now, following a two-year search for a suitable site, Juliette has opened Little Monsters Mayhem at a converted engineering works in Liverpool Road, Irlam.

Juliette, who lives in Glazebrook, Warrington, has ploughed £200,000 into the venture, which employs 15 people and can accommodate up to 120 children at a time. It is already attracting visitors from across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

Little Monsters Mayhem caters for babies, toddlers and older children up to 11. It has a padded area for tots, an indoor sports court, games and crafts section, party zone and cafeteria. The centrepiece is the Amazon Rainforest, a giant climbing frame with slides, a spider's web and other attractions. Juliette is hoping to achieve revenues of £350,000 in the first full year of trading.

Fun-filled

She said today: "We aim to create a friendly, fun-filled en-vironment where children can play and exercise safely. The facility has been designed to provide mental and physical stimulation for children through uninhibited play.

"I have always wanted to work for myself and, when I saw Ewan and other children having the time of their lives in Scotland, I decided this was the right venture for me. A lot of people were shocked when I left my job, but I haven't looked back.

"There have been all sorts of things to learn about, such as controlling costs, time management, health and safety and other issues, but we have got off to a great start and I wouldn't change it for the world. As long as you can balance work and home life, anything is achiev-able. If you have a dream, then you must go for it - take the chance and give it 100 per cent."

Juliette has received backing from Lombard, the asset finance arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland, for Little Monsters Mayhem.

Lombard's Angela Parry said: "Juliette has put a great deal of time and effort into this venture, and the thoroughness of her business plan impressed us. She has a clear vision for the future and we are happy to help support her plans."
