AMS gets key NHS contract

HEALTHCARE Shares in Cheshire medical technology company Advanced Medical Solutions ticked up 2.29 per cent to 33.5p on news of a key supply deal with the National Health Service.

The Winsford-based group said the NHS' new procurement arm, NHS Supply Chain has included its entire ActivHeal range on its new arrangemebnt to supply advanced woundcare products to hospital trusts. The agreement rusn from this month until May 2010.

ActiveHeal products are used a s a first line therapy for treating routine wounds and according to AMS offer substantial savings in woundcare budgets.

Dr Don Evans, chief executive of AMS said: "Included of our full ActivHeal range on the new framework agreement underpins our NHS direct woundcare business over the next two years.

"I am particularly pleased that in addition to our strong cost management offering, our added value features such as the innovation provided by out UK-based R&D manufacturing presence and the clinical training and education provided by our clinical nurse team, have also been recognised during the supplier assessment process."
