It is developing an English language website, with a working title of Desirable And Delivered, accessing a market of 700m adults.
The idea is for Ardwick-based Photolink to build relationships with the world's leading fashion labels and for partner Indian company Images Group to add indigenous fashion ideas.
Managing director Jayne Riley describes this as `the perfect synergy' as both western and local styles will be on offer.
Still in the planning stages, the original idea was to distribute a print catalogue.
However, distribution problems in India have led Photolink to put the ordering facility entirely online.
"This will expose us to the minimum of risk and keep costs down," says Jayne, who had just come back from the sub-continent.
Once established, it is hoped the website itself and the Photolink-Images joint venture will become `synonymous with luxury.'
Considerable interest was generated at the International Herald Tribune's supreme luxury event in Moscow last November. Jayne said: "We already have 30-40 brands keen to join us in exploring this low-cost entry into emerging markets.
"For the brands our site will be a way of getting exposure in the Indian market without the risks and costs of setting up retail space."
Photolink is hoping to unveil the new site towards the end of the year.
