YOUNG professional people from doctors to engineers are to attend an international 'summit' in Manchester next year to work on the United Nations' millennium development goals on poverty, health and the environment.

Running the get-together is 35-year-old Sarah-Jo Dawson from Oldham, who works for Total Petrochemicals UK in Stalybridge as health, safety and environment manager.

Sarah, president of the International Young Professionals Foundation, says: "I'm very proud of it being held in Manchester: it's the first time it's come out of Australia. And I fought hard to have it in the north rather than in London."
