OLDHAM-BASED furniture manufacturers, Dean House PLC (Betta Living), is celebrating after recruiting its 25th apprentice to the business.
The milestone appointment forms part of the firm’s long-term succession planning strategy and follows a 12-year Apprenticeship training programme working with training provider, North Lancs Training Group (NLTG).
The business has a keen focus on maintaining a qualified and experienced workforce and ensures that employees are developed through various areas across the business, with Apprenticeships in performing manufacturing operations, warehousing, IT and business administration.
HR Manager, Steve Markowicz, said: “The workforce is made up of a well-balanced mix of experienced employees from the older generation and enthusiastic apprentices who are keen to learn new skills and they both complement each other very well and are equally relied upon.
“Our apprentices have added a competitive edge to the business and have helped to ensure continuity of product quality.
“It is essential for any company to have trained staff as part of the team and as a large employer in the area, with approximately 100 staff, we feel it is our duty to support the local community and encourage those enthusiastic young people who are keen to work and learn more and develop them into leaders of the future.
“We plan to continue producing quality products for many years to come and we can only do this by continuing to employ a highly skilled workforce that has the talent and desire to succeed. Apprenticeships provide an appealing package for those who are keen to develop themselves and I have seen my apprentices grow in skill, confidence and enthusiasm.
“From my experience, I would say that apprentices mature into integral and valuable members of the workforce and are worthy recipients of an employer’s time and investment.”
