Construction firm Morgan Sindall has begun work on the site of a new £3.8m district centre in Hattersley, Tameside.
The four-storey development is part of landowners Tameside council and Peak Valley Housing Association's regeneration master plan for the town and includes a 94,300 sq ft Tesco Metro store.
The new district centre will include a library, youth facilities, a community hall, offices for Peak Valley and the Community Forum Association and a satellite police office.
Morgan Sindall has completed a 10-week programme of site clearance and the building is due for completion in August.
Site manager Ryan Jones said the scheme would include brickwork, zinc cladding and a glazed footbridge on the first floor.
*Property firm SEGRO has completed the first phase of a £3m refurbishment programme at Longwood Park, Trafford Park. The works included the refurbishment of existing units, including re-roofing and internal improvements.
The next phase of the facelift of the 342,688 sq ft site will see several older units demolished, creating more yard space and off-road parking. SEGRO said it also intends to improve security by installing new perimeter fencing and gates, as well as carrying out landscaping work and placing clearer road signs.
