The oly thing darling and previous chancellors have been good at doing in the past is dragging us into the recession we're in.

i cannot see anything different happening

Today will sound the death knell of this tired administration. Chin up Britain! You have no more than 12 months suffering left to endure before the new dawn of a conservative government. Labour have had another go, proved again they are incompetent and must disappear again for another reformation. Meantime, where's Michael Foot when you need him?

I can see the Conservatives coming in within the next year, fixing the mess....but annoying a lot of people in the process, which will then lose them the following Gen Election...giving way for Labour to mess it all up again! It's happened time and time again!

It really is a mess. We need to borrow £600bn over the next 5 years just to balance the books - thats more than all UK governments have borrowed put together since the 1700's. We will owe 79% of our GDP. This really is crisis time.

Taxes will have to increase massively in 2 or 3 years time. There simply is no choice. Banks used to generate 27% of all corporation tax and that massively subsidised us as personal tax payers. Its all been blown away and we as individuals are now vulnerable.

About 3 years ago, there was more money coming into the Treasury than they knew what to do with. I hope Mr Brown and his Darling aren't going to preach prudence to the rest of us.

How upsetting to have been living in one of the world's richest nations only to watch the scottish waster and his chums (Blair and Darling) fritter it all away.
