EVERY week our fashion scouts hit Manchester's party scene to track down women with a real sense of style. Helen Tither mingled with the bargain hunting ladies at Warehouse's 30th birthday event on King Street, where she asked Somoya Nelson, 23, a telesales worker from Rusholme to tell us about her look.
How would you describe your style?
Versatile. I love trying out new fashion trends. I don't follow each trend, though, because I don't like to fall in with what everyone is wearing.
Where did you buy tonight's outfit and how much did it cost?
Cardigan -
Warehouse, é35
Vest top -
H&M, é3.99
Jeans -
TK Maxx é30
Boots - Ravel é65
Beads -
New Look, a couple of pounds
Who's your style icon?
I can't think of any one person. The world inspires me - just colours and the feel and the weather it all comes down to different things. I just do my own thing.
Name your favourite shops.
Warehouse without a doubt, I love it so much. TK Maxx,
Dorothy Perkins,
Wallis,
Mango,
Topshop, H&M. There are loads I love them all. I go to anywhere. I buy loads from New Look too. I like to dig around.
What's your best ever buy?
I've got a lovely bubble bag from
ASOS. It looks like a bubble jacket. It's got a bow tied over the strap. Everybody adores it because you can't get it in any of the stores.
What's your biggest fashion mistake?
An illuminous blue pair of footless tights I wore a few years ago in my retro days. Everyone kept asking me why I was wearing them with my suit. It was anything goes. They are not nice but I thought I look good on the day.
How much do you spend on clothes each month?
I don't want to exaggerate but it could be at least é150-é200. I could see one thing I want for a é100. I'm fashion crazy.
What one piece of clothing can't you live without?
My fishnet stockings. It sounds terrible but everyone knows me for them! But I can't live without any of my shoes either. I just love all my shoes and boots and I've got over 130 pairs.
