Style on a budget

Style guru Jemma Gofton.

CHANNEL M's fashion guru Jemma Gofton gives her top tips for style on a shoe-string...

Mix and match:
Jemma says: "I'm addicted to expensive shoes and bags - I treat myself to two designer bags a year but I would mix them with clothes from Primark or Topshop to make the whole outfit more affordable."

Jean genius:
"I don't think you can skimp on price to get the perfect pair of jeans. My favourites are 7 For All Mankind. But if you've got more of a budget it has to be River Island. They have the perfect fit and look just like designer."

Covetable coat:
"Every woman needs a decent winter coat. Avoid high fashion as this will date too easily."

Little black dress:
"The absolute must for every wardrobe. It doesn't have to cost a fortune, just something that you know you will always feel comfortable and confident in."

Boot camp:
"A good winter pair of boots are the ultimate accessory. Scout around for a solid flat pair that fit well around the calf and you will never want to take them off."

T-shirt treasure:
"A simple white T-shirt is the basis for every wardrobe. It will go with everything from suits to jeans."

Don't be a fashion victim:
"If a trend doesn't suit you don't wear it. Know your size and shape and dress to suit yourself."
