AHH, what to wear when the rain clouds are gathering but you're still hoping to turn heads at one of the social events of the year.

It's been a dilemma for fashionable fillies throughout this soggy summer of ours, and never more so as Style prepared to head off to the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show at Tatton Park last week.

The show was blessed with some lovely sunshine - but will be remembered for really torrential rain that left many parts of the showground looking like a mudbath. So kitten heels were definitely out.

Style fought against it, but eventually decided the only thing to do was don the waterproofs and wellies (on the advice of the RHS show's big boss, no less).

But what a pleasant surprise we were in for - wellies were undoubtedly the must-have of the week - and we were most impressed with the weatherproof chic visitors were opting for.

And for those girls who had, ahem, forgotten their wellies? They were soon seen snapping them up at the big boot sellers at the show - Welligogs's colourful printed pairs were doing a roaring trade.

Emma Graham had picked up her rosebud booties from Welligogs for a cheap and chic £20 - as had Amanda Herbert with these polka dot creations, while Lynne Norton decided to snap up some flowery wellies, purchased from the RHS store on site, to match her colourful floral outfit.

Serea Kennedy and Kaye Volante were a little more prepared - heading to the show in their well-trodden designer wellies - Style was particularly taken with Serea's super-duper Hunters pink wellies.

Friends Bryony Hudson and Liz Miller had conflicting fortunes at the show - Liz decided to brave it in flip flops - and muddy tootsies were the result!

Nira Anand and Marianne Hodgkinson opted for more traditional green boots - and were giggling that we would even think to take pictures of their practical footwear.

But we think they looked fab teamed with their colourful flowery print tops and jeans. Flower show chic to a t!
