Each week we're out on the style scene chatting to you fabulous fashionistas. This week Dianne Bourne spoke to model Helen Holt, 22, from Manchester, who recently appeared in the BBC model show Hot Like Us, about her sassy style.

How would you describe your style?

Depending on where I'm going, I normally tend to stick to basic outfits like graphic vests and jeans and team with major accessories to make the outfit stand out. I like to look like I'm not trying too hard! I do love a bowler hat – it hides my hair and completes a look, I wear them with everything, even dresses – it gives a sdressed down quirky glam look.

Who is your style icon and why?

I have so many, it changes through the seasons. In summer mine is Sienna Miller because I love her boho vintage pieces, floral patterns and chiffon fabrics. In winter it's Alexa Chung – I love all the chunky knits and pixie boots she teams them with making it her signature preppy look. In spring it's Olivia Palermo, I love her girly structured look, and autumn Agyness Deyn – I love the tailored suits she wears, they are so androgynous teamed with a shirt and bowtie. But my ultimate is Kate Moss, all year round!

What has been your biggest fashion mistake?

Bright pink socks with Chelsea boots – I didn't realise 'til I'd left the house!

What one item of clothing can't you live without?

All of my hats.

How much do you spend on average on clothes each month?

I always treat myself to a few essential pieces at the start of ever season, sometimes more depending how much I'm making.
