Golf named Green Car Of The Year
The new Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI 105 Bluemotion five-door model has just been named What Car? magazine’s Green Car Of The Year. The awards, held in association with Warranty Direct, also honoured the Golf as best Green Small Family Car, while the Fiat 500 1.2 Pop was awarded best Green Supermini. Top green luxury car was the British-built Jaguar XJ.

The new and improved Chrysler Grand Voyager
The big Chrysler Grand Voyager people carrier gets a raft of new improvements to the 2010 range, with standard features now including stowable seats, powered sliding side doors and tailgate, and even third-row electric windows. Trim levels are LX, Touring and Limited, with prices running from £26,995 for the 2.8-litre diesel LX entry model to £35,495 for the 3.8-litre petrol Limited version.

Taiwan’s own motor company, LuxGen, has launched an electric version of its seven-seater people carrier. Called the LuxGen7, it follows the recent launch of the 2.2-litre diesel version and is destined primarily for the home market. The all-electric MPV has a 90mph top speed and a power maximum of 240bhp. No prices have been given, and don’t expect to see it in Europe for at least a year or two.

Kia unveils three special editions
KIA’S Picanto city car and its sibling the Rio supermini are now available in Domino special-edition form, while the Soul model adds an Echo special edition to the range. Hyundai’s eco-friendly engine
Hyundai's i20 is to become more eco-friendly, thanks to more fuel-efficient engines and the fitting of a gear-change indicator on the supermini’s instrument panel. The best-selling 1.2-litre petrol model now has C02 output pegged to 119g/km too, which means road tax costs just £30 a year.
