Red Hot Buffet to open Manchester chain creating 150 jobs

A restaurant chain is to create 150 new jobs in Manchester when it opens what it claims is the biggest buffet in Europe next month.

The Nottingham-based Red Hot Buffet chain, which already has branches in Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Northampton and Milton Keynes, serves up cuisines from around the world, including Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Thai, Cajun and English.

More than £2m has been invested in the Manchester restaurant at 48 Deansgate, opposite the Renaissance hotel.

The chain's annual turnover is £20m, which is expected to be boosted to £28m by the opening of the Manchester outpost on May 4.

The weekly turnover in the Manchester restaurant is predicted to be £150,000 a week.

The new jobs will include chefs, managers, waiting staff, bar staff and cleaners and recruitment is ongoing.

Helen Dhaliwal, director, of Red Hot World Buffet & Bar, said: “As Manchester is the ‘Capital of the North’, it was an obvious choice for us when choosing where to open our newest and largest restaurant.

“We wanted to give people a new and fresh dining experience. And we are really going for the ‘wow factor’ with our new Manchester restaurant.

“Manchester also boasts a diverse culture meaning that our buffet experience, which is inspired by all corners of the earth, will certainly be well received.”

Red Hot Buffet will be employing 150 staff in its new Manchester restaurant, which will take its UK team up to 575 employees.

There are also plans to open restaurants in Cardiff and Leicester later on this year.
