Who would have thought, in 1991, when the event had such small beginnings, that all these years later it would be one of the biggest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) events in the UK!
From Mardi Gras to Gayfest and EuroPride to Manchester Pride, the event has had many guises over the years. But each event, regardless of its title, has helped to shape the festival into what it is today - an event the people of Manchester can be extremely proud of.
Of all of the events surrounding Pride, the HIV candlelit vigil in Sackville Park remains a personal highlight.
As well as bringing the celebrations to a close on the Monday evening, it reminds us what Manchester Pride is all about - remembering those members of our friends and family that are no longer with us and reminding us why we need to keep raising as much money as possible for local charities and projects that help people affected by LGBT issues.
For up-to-the minute information about the festival, visit manchesterpride.com . And remember, Manchester's here 365 days a year, so if you enjoy your time in the village and fancy coming back at another time in the year, check out visitgaymanchester.com .
Enjoy!
