FANCY doing your bit for charity and getting a good boogie in the bargain?

If the answer to that is no, then get back to your penny pinching in the peace and quiet of your lonely abode, Scrooge! Because the correct answer is YES! Gimme good will and hip-shaking tunes, CityLife!

Fall into that second group and you'll be following us, Pied Piper style, down to the Tatton Park Picnic Concerts where there's music - of the classical, pop and vintage varieties - and fireworks planned.

And there's the chance to put your hand in your pockets for Francis House Children's Hospice, a north west charity supporting children with life-limited conditions.

The festivities kick off on Saturday with a concert from the Hallé Orchestra, conducted by John Wilson with music from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, Wagner's Lohengrin and Grieg's Peer Gynt as well as the famous Dam Busters March by Coates.

Spectacular

A fireworks display finishes the evening - expect nothing short of an eyeball-burning spectacular all set to excerpts from Holst's Planet Suite.

Leading ABBA tribute band Björn Again take to the stage on Sunday, preceeded by a session of the Music Of Dirty Dancing.

That's Fifties and Sixties classics from The Drifters, Otis Redding, Soloman Burke, The Shirelles, Frankie Valli, Bruce Channel and The Ronettes (and not forgetting Patrick Swayze's bombastic ballad She's Like The Wind) closely followed by Waterloo, SOS, Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Money Monday Money, Knowing Me Knowing You, Voulez-Vous, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Thankyou For The Music and The Winner Takes It All.

You'll sing yourselves hoarse.

Picnic In The Park is at Tatton Park on Saturday and Sunday, August 2 and 3. Sat: £25 (gates 5pm), Sun: £29/£20 (6pm). Tickets at tattonparkconcerts.com , or ring 0844 847 1554.
