For the beautiful blonde wife of Liverpool and England footballer Steven Gerrard (pictured) confesses: "We are not a sloppy romantic couple, but we do little things to keep it romantic. Like Steven will warm the car up for me on a cold morning if I'm going out or fill my car up with petrol. Little things like that I find romantic."
The Diary caught up with Alex as she autographed bottles of her new perfume, Alex, at Debenhams in The Trafford Centre yesterday. And, not surprisingly, she reckons her scent is the perfect gift for Valentine's Day. "It's a really girly smell and keeps you smelling gorgeous all day," she says.
However, Valentine's in the Gerrard household will be low-key. She said: "This Valentine's Day I will be cooking Steven a nice meal. We went out earlier in the week as he has a game on Saturday so we will have a nice quiet night in and I will cook something special."
Meanwhile, former X Factor star Andy Scott-Lee was entertaining fans all over the city performing his debut solo single, Unforgettable. And, romantic gestures don't get much better than this, the song is an ode to Andy's pop star wife, Liberty X's Michelle Heaton.
Among his stops was the Zion Arts Centre in Hulme where Andy chatted to young people about the music biz and performed his song, before heading over to meet fans and sing at The Trafford Centre.
But despite his hectic promotion schedule, he told me he'd be making time for a Valentine's treat for Michelle. He said: "I really do try to make an effort for Valentine's Day, and I'm thinking of whisking Michelle away to Paris.
"One of the most romantic things I've ever done was two years ago before we went out for a meal I filled our place with 50 heart-shaped balloons. When we got back from the meal, Michelle was bowled over - but couldn't work out how I'd manage to do it."
Ah, keep them guessing Andy, that's the way to do it.
Meanwhile, Shameless star Rebecca Atkinson tells me she was wowed by Tiffany on her best ever Valentine's Day.
"Thomas, my boyfriend, presented me with this fantastic Tiffany gift set inside the famous blue box with the white bow - it was just lovely. Inside was a necklace and a tag bracelet which were both gorgeous. he bought me some Vivienne Westwood jewellery one year, too."
Bolton-born actress Amy Nuttall's best Valentine's surprise was when an old beau tracked her down on location while she was on Emmerdale.
She said: "It was my last year in Emmerdale and the person in question found out where I would be shooting and managed to get chocolates, flowers and a card filled with kisses to me on set. It was a huge surprise. The scene I was shooting involved me crying though and I couldn't do it because I was too happy."
Coronation Street star Tupele Dorgu hasn't made plans for her Valentine's Day yet, but she vividly remembers her worst ever.
"I was set up on a blind date by my friends, and the only night we could do happened to be Valentine's Day. But he got drunk before he even turned up! Needless to say, that was not a good first date."
Meanwhile Cheshire-based TV presenter Jenny Powell doesn't hesitate when it comes to recalling her most romantic Valentine's present.
"I came home one day to find my whole house filled with flowers," she says. "My boyfriend at the time had spoken to a friend who had managed to get hold of a key to my house - it was only a small house - and while I was out they had got a florists in to fill every space with flowers. It's impossible to beat that, I think.
"My girlfriends didn't talk to me for a week or two after that because they were all so jealous. There was only one problem - I had hayfever. So, lovely as the gesture was, I spent the next few days sneezing and with my eyes running."
For Bury singer Rowetta her best Valentine's Day was the first one after she left her husband! The singer, then 21, was living in a women's aid refuge shortly after leaving her other half but had the best Valentine's ever.
She says: "I had had no cards or Valentine's presents for five years while I was married. But the first Valentine's Day after I left him I got three cards and went out on a date."
This year Rowetta is working at a friend's pub singing love songs to the regulars.
"I did it last year at the New Fir Tree pub in Reddish," she says. "The y were queuing out the door. So they asked me back again this year. It should be great fun."
