MORE than 250 artists and musicians are set to descend on Manchester as Futuresonic 04 gets underway.
The international electronic music and media arts festival takes place from Tuesday, April 27 until May 8 and will feature more than 50 projects and events.
Star names taking part include Dizzee Rascal collaborator Wiley, former Echo & The Bunnymen musician Will Sergeant, Jamaican dancehall DJ U Brown, electro pioneer Greg Wilson and Twisted Nerve head Andy Votel.
Futuresonic began in 1995 with the aim of exploring cutting edge developments in electronic music and digital media.
Since its first major festival in 1996, it has spread its wings and presented events in South Africa, Venezuela, India, Trinidad and San Francisco.
But the 2004 festival is the biggest to date and features a 50/50 split of music and media art. Ten events are free but a festival pass for all the events is available priced £40/£32.50.
