OUR 2003 music poll has closed - and it's top pop acts Simply Red and Mark Owen who are celebrating.
Simply Red romped away with the album of the year title as Home picked up a whopping 45 per cent of the vote.
The singles poll proved to be much closer, and in the end former Take That star Mark Owen just shaded it with 20 per cent.
Thousands of you voted for your favourite from our list of the top 30 singles and top 30 albums released by local bands in 2003 - and we've chosen two of you to each win a £50 voucher to spend at any of Music Zone's 46 stores across the UK.
The two lucky winners are Karen who voted for Simply Red's album and Rachel who voted for Alfie's single. Congratulations - and thanks to everybody who took part.

I thought KILL ALL DJS was a great record from BEATS FOR BEGINNERS and the singer is really fit.
I voted for The Obsession simply because they are the best band in Manchester bar none.
Although not the most popular band in mcr(yet), The Obsession are easily the most important. Stand aside tame indie acoustica and let the flames break loose.
Watch out for "International 1" in 2004!
Muse, "Absolution" was the best album this year. It kicks ass on all others.
The Obsession should win - and for best live band too!
The Obsessions wise blood EP is top draw. Are they signed? If they arent, then why the hell not? I guess we'll all be hearing a lot more from them in the future. I bet they kick arse live.
I voted for Moco cos the b side 'shes fine' is fine. and they're mi mates:-)
i voted for mark owen, because although i've never been a fan until this year, i gave him a chance and saw him perform recently at the uni and he was excellent, so i bought his album and it was such a nice suprise! it's very good.
I voted for The Obsession due to the fact that they are the best band I have seen all year above Elbow and The Rain Band. Their EP is quality and their lead singer is a legend.
I voted for The Obsession as they are the best band around bar none. They will be big I have no doubts. Also best live band.
I've voted for Mark Owen's album In Your Own Time. Despite little airplay and him being forever labelled "the little cute one from Take That", I love this album it's a gem. It's totally underated despite some good reviews but seems Mark is not allowed to move on from his boyband image. He's written his own songs, my personal favourite being Close To The Edge, its beautiful lyrics and strings make it stand out for me. It's a shame no-one's getting behind someone who is writing his own material and not churning out cover versions like other artists. Well done Mark, hope you stick around.
I love The Obsession; their music, their image, everything.
Keep up the good work boys!
Best live band I've seen for donkeys. Quality entertainment, decent chaps and the music's bob on too.
Simply Red is the best and Home is one of the best albums yet.
Sunrise is so passionate and full of meaning. Knowing Mick wrote it makes me ache even more for him.
I think that this is the best album that Simply Red have done since Stars and now that they have thier own record label it is good to see that they have had it go to platinium.
From 1 big SIMPLY RED FAN
Sunrise, my love
Obsession above any. Seen alot of the bands in the list this year and the obsession are my favourite hands down. Their ep is mint
This is a song from the heart and reflects what everybody feels and needs.
As far as I'm concerned Mark Owen's album gets my vote because it is excellent! I'm not an ex Take That fan just holding on to a dream - I became a fan of his purely on the the merits of this album. I've now seen him play live and I'm well-impressed!!
I voted for this record because I work for the record label.
I voted for this record because I have been to four concerts from this tour and they have just been the best. After all these years Simply Red just get better and better. (if thats possible)
Come on everyone - who wants some fat old boring band like Simply Red to win - or soppy Mark Owen. Vote The Obsession - the most exciting band around Machester right now. Glad to see they seem to be getting the votes though. Nice one lads.
I voted for Simply Red's album HOME because it's how I hope any Mancunian would be proud to feel! Anyone with any passion in them, will own a Simply Red album, why not own the best one so far too!
