NORTHERN Soulsters get your disco boots on, because for the first time in more than a quarter of a century the three DJs behind the legendary music phenomenon are reuniting for a special Mancunian Midsummer gig.

Founders of Wigan Casino's famed Heart and Soul, Richard Searling, Russ Winstanley and Kev Roberts, are coming together for an all-night set at one of Manchester's top Northern Soul venues - the Longfield suite in Prestwich.

Broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 from midnight to 4am this June 22, the session promises classic tracks alongside new northwest discoveries.

Host Stuart Maconie, himself a Wigan lad, says the aim is to recreate those halcyon days at the Casino. With any luck he'll have an easier time getting in - the award-winning music man says he well remembers fibbing about his age to get past the fearsome bouncer at the venue. Tweet
