MANCHESTER’S very own music festival, Move, is almost upon us, and here at ManchesterOnline we aim to provide you with everything you need to know.
So if you are attending or planning to attend – read on.
The three-day event, featuring the likes of R.E.M, The Charlatans and The Manic Street Preachers, takes place over the weekend of Friday, July 11 to Sunday, July 12 at Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
The day’s festivities kick off at 3pm and run until after 11pm. If you have not bought tickets yet, then do so by the following means:
Tickets are priced at £27.50 for the Friday (Manics) and Saturday (Charlatans) and £28.50 for the Sunday (R.E.M). If you are planning to go for the whole weekend. Passes are available for £65.
They can be bought from Ticketmaster on 0870 151 4444; Piccadilly Box Office on 0161 832 1111; Gigsandtours.com; Virgin Megastores in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield; Easy Internet Caf', St Ann’s Square, Manchester; Radio City box office; St John’s Centre, Liverpool; and Royal Court box office, Liverpool.
Once you have bought the tickets it is time to make the next two important decisions – how you are going to get there and where you are going to stay.
The venue is situated to the south of the city in Trafford, just off the A56 which runs through the heart of Manchester and can ebe asily accessed by car via Manchester’s motorway ring road, the M60. Check out the maps available on the venues website for more.
If you are travelling via coach or train, you will probably arrive in the heart of the city and can then transfer to the festival by public transport. Our Public Transport section should be able to help you with that.
If you coming from outside of the city, you may need somewhere to stay, as the last act will finish after 11pm each night. Check out our Accommodation section for list of what’s available, ranging from cheap to expensive.
And if you are not ready to go to bed at the end of the night, the city has plenty of late bar and clubs to suit all tastes. For more information check out our Clubs section.
Finally, here at ManchesterOnline we would love to know what you thought of the festival and the bands that played. So if you would like to review a particular band, one of the days or even the whole weekend, then why not e-mail us at: lawrence.poole@gmgrd.co.uk or paul.cockerton@gmgrd.co.uk
