POP Idol Will Young has another No 1 to add to his chart success - his first single Evergreen is set to be the biggest selling karaoke disc ever.

Hysteria has swept the country with the chart newcomer raking up an amazing 1.2m single sales in his first week, making it the biggest selling debut single.

But now hundreds of copycats will be crooning in pubs, clubs and bedrooms as they try singing their own version of the song. Karaoke sellers HW Audio in St George's Road, Bolton, have sold around 400 copies of a new disc including the Evergreen and Anything is Possible double A-side.

Sales director Richard Harfield said: "It has been going mad. The phones haven't stopped ringing with people asking if we have Will Young. The internet site, Karaokeshop, has taken hundreds of hits and we are inundated with orders.

"Normally we only ever sell about 250 copies of a disc but are getting through about 15 a day and should sell hundreds before it dies down. I can't wait for Gareth's song, Unchained Melody, to come out, because that should be even bigger."
