Another masterpiece for a Badly Drawn Boy

Chorlton's Mercury Award winner Badly Drawn Boy has finished his long-awaited soundtrack to Nick Hornby's comedy romance About a Boy.

It took about six months, but Damon Gough, the man who convinced 80s pin up Joan Collins to star in a video from his award-winning album The Hour Of Bewilderbeast (XL), has written the entire soundtrack to the film including several new songs and incidental music.

The Manchester music sensation is making UK fans wait until the new year before revealing his work on About a Boy - a play on the Nirvarna track About a Girl - which will be out on May 17 2002.

However, Gough's Celebrate song from his first EP is out on the latest Twisted Nerve album, Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Twisted Nerve But Were Too Afraid To Ask.

The popular Manchester label was formed by Gough and and DJ Andy Votel.

About a Boy

Directed by American Pie's Paul Weitz and brother Chris (Down to Earth) it stars Hugh Grant, Toni Collette and Rachel Weisz and has been adapted by What's Eating Gilbert Grape writer Peter Hedges.

Grant plays 36-year-old Londoner Will Freeman (Grant). A man who preys on single mothers because he thinks they're more desperate and easier to get rid of. Only he becomes emotionally attached to Collette's 12-year-old son.
