DRUGS and depression may yet set in, but Bob The Builder stands at the peak of his powers, taking Mambo No 5 hurtling to number one, AGAIN! Which makes a mockery of real people, even French ones like Supermen Lovers, who take the excellent disco-soul track Starlight to number two.
Elsewhere, the Artful Dodger and Melanie Blatt earn a respectable number six entry with Twentyfourseven, and So Solid Crew slip two but stay in at ten, at eight with 21 Seconds (count the number of numbers in the previous sentence, readers, and get confused).
Redman's Let's Get Dirty sees him unable to 'get in da club'. Neither can he get in the top ten, as the AA side with Smash Sumthin enters at 11.
This week's mildly successful alternative tracks come from Staind, in at 15 with It's Been Awhile, and Spiritualized, at 18 with Stop Your Crying.
The magically annoying Little Trees continue their tragic descent, falling six places to 20 with Help! I'm A Fish. But it's a bad week for Macy Gray, who only manages to go to 23 with Sweet Baby. At least she fared better than 31-year-old Brian Warner, who limps to 34 with The Nobodies. Wonder if he's taken the glowstick out from his bottom yet.
