MANY fans already hail cult Mancunian music hero Mark E Smith as a god, but now he's taking the theory one step further by playing Jesus in a TV series.

Smith, the enigmatic frontman for The Fall, is to star alongside St Helens comic Johnny Vegas in the new series of BBC sitcom, Ideal.

A spokesman for production team Baby Cow tells me: "Mark E Smith makes a guest appearance as Jesus and suggests that Moz (Vegas) should be killed for his debauched ways. It's really funny."

We'll be able to see for ourselves when the third series of Ideal starts on BBC3 on March 20 at 10.30pm. Tweet
