Best's funeral music to get release

THE music performed at the funeral of football legend George Best is to be released as a charity single.

Irish musicians Brian Kennedy and Peter Corry performed the songs You Raise Me Up, The Long and Winding Road, Bring Him Home and Vincent at the funeral service, and due to popular demand the songs have now been recorded.

Profits from the single, to be released on Boxing Day, will be donated to The George Best Foundation, and has been backed by the Best family, including George's son Calum who will also be acting as spokesman for the record.

George's sister, Barbara NcNally, said: "The family would like to assure the public that George never took his liver transplant for granted.

"Through the George Best Foundation we aim to raise funds to carry out research into alcoholism and liver disease".
