Morrissey doesn't get the Tori vote

MANC legend Morrissey can be assured he's crossed off Tori Amos's Christmas card list. Piano-playing Tori launched a startling rant against Mozzer at her Manchester Apollo gig on Sunday night.

It all came about after she told her audience she would be playing a "legendary Mancunian tune".

Cue calls from the crowd to belt out a Smiths' number. But Tori came back with the response: "I don't like Morrissey, and I'll tell you why." She went on to recount the story of how many years ago they had both been appearing on a TV show.

"Afterwards I walked past him in the corridor, and said, `Hey, great songs man'. And he turned to me and said: `What the **** do you know?'"

What Tori said next can't be repeated, but there was much stamping of feet.

The "legendary tune" she had meant was Oasis's Don't Look Back In Anger, but it seems Tori is still angry , as she personalised the lyrics with: "You ain't ever gonna tear my heart out, Morrissey."

I thought the story was very funny. You could tell that Tori did see the humour in it and she did say at the end thatshe still likes Morrisey's music.

Morrissey didn't really say that to her, I'm sure of it. He would never a)swear at a stranger or b)be so gauche. She was, most likely, attempting to be humorous and ge t a rise out of the crowd.
Moz wouldn't be so obvious! (Although he might've thought it, as I would have, he surely didn't say it!)

I don't see what Tori Amos would have to gain from making a story like ths up. I was at the concert ("Don't Look Back In Anger" was amazing!) and Tori did say that she liked The Smiths and their music but called Morrissey several uncomplimentary names (too many to mention) and asked "What the **** do I know about music?! Well, who the **** do you think you are, Morrissey, trying to sell records in America?!" The gig was far from Tori's best so this added a lot of humour to proceedings (albeit at the expense of one of Manchester's idols!).

It now appears I shall be using the Tori Amos CD's I owned for coasters, to protect my cherrywood table.
